Ohio State Buckeyes at Indiana Hoosiers
Bob Knight's current favorite team and alma mater takes on his former employer. Ohio State
can move into the top 10 with a victory over Indiana. The Hoosiers are likely to be a top seed and are going for their 14th conference win. Ohio State travels to Assembly Hall in Bloomington, In. on Tuesday night to take on Indiana at 9pmET.
Most Recent Games:
Ohio State (21-7 SU, 14-11-1 ATS) has won three straight games and four of the last five, which includes a win over Northwestern last Thursday, 63-53 giving 11. Their last three matchup have gone under the total bet after their previous four went over.
Indiana (25-4 SU, 15-12 ATS) has won five of six including a 73-60 win over Iowa on Saturday as a 13.5-point betting odds favorite.
Last game: (2/10/13) Indiana (+1) over OHIO STATE, 81-68
. They have split the last four games. Before that, Ohio State had won and covered the last five. Four of the last five matchups have gone over the total bet.
Indiana has become beatable:
How do you beat Indiana
? Get physical inside and defending the perimeter. Ohio State didn't do those things in the first game even though the rebounds were even at 30-30. Amir Williams (6-11, 250) has the size to lean on Zeller and only played 11 minutes in that first game due to picking up four quick fouls. Zeller wound up with 24 points and eight rebounds in 32 minutes. He shot 8-of-11 from the field and 8-of-11 from the line.
The Buckeyes don't need Williams to play 40 minutes; just 20 and to lean on Zeller, who doesn't like contact and wants to run all day.
Key betting trends
Ohio State is:
- 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday games.
- 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss.
- 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Indiana.
Ohio State is becoming a more balanced squad
- 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss.
- 2-8 in the last 10 meetings.
Ohio State will bounce back in this game from the first loss to Indiana because they are becoming more than just a one man team. Deshaun Thomas
put up 26 points in the first game on 8-of-20 shooting and Aaron Craft added 16 points. But Lenzelle Smith Jr. (6-4, 210) had just six. Smith averages 10.3 points per game and poured in 24 points and hit six three-pointers against Northwestern.
The Buckeyes have something to prove after losing at home by 13. They are looking to grab a first-round by in the Big 10 conference tournament. Right now, they are tied for second with Michigan State
, Wisconsin and Michigan.
Thomas, a junior forward, has scored in double figures in all 28 games while averaging a team-best 19.8 points. Smith (10.3) is the only other player averaging in double digits. Craft averages 9.4 points and 4.4 assists and leads Ohio State with 53 steals. Williams plays more than 11 minutes so Zeller becomes less of a factor. Smith and Craft score in double figures and Ohio State takes this game game to the wire, covering it with ease.
