Now it's official. The Boston Red Sox and manager Terry Francona agreed to part ways on Friday after meeting with upper management.
Francona met with owner John Henry, chairman Tom Werner, team president Larry Lucchino, general manager Theo Epstein and assistant GM Ben Cherington on Friday at Fenway Park. He left and then returned.

Francona apparently will not return according to numerous sources. On Thursday, Boston had a news conference at Fenway Park. Epstein said upper management and ownership will take a breather and reassess everyone in the organization in the next few days -- including Francona. His options are worth $4.25 million each for 2012 and 2013.
